The Spanish for Foreigners Department
Established in 1987, the Department of Spanish is a section of the Language Faculty. It offers a Spanish as Foreign Language program as well as Latin American studies optional courses.
SPANISH AS FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAM
The Spanish courses include six levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. During the class, our teachers focus their attention on the communicative function of language. The students obtain confidence in their communicative skills and they learn more about Mexican people and cultural diversity.
COURSEWORK MATERIALS
Coursework includes a variety of texts, teacher-designed materials and exercises, as well as the use of other teaching aids. Our teachers have written their own didactic texts "Mosaico 1" and "Mosaico 2". These books are utilized in the program and can be purchased at the Center. The book “Mosaico 3” is about to be printed.
THE LATIN-AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM
Our Latin American Studies Program offers courses about fundamental ideas such as Art, History, Politics, Economy and Literature. We offer the following courses:

Besides the scheduled courses, the Department is open to offer other subjects into the main themes (formal writing, history, visual arts, literature and culture), as well as to adapt the courses in order to adjust them for the curricular needs of the student.
We also offer assistance for research or academic works required by students.
The number of credits granted in each course, as well as the official designation of the course, may be adjusted according to the requirements of the university where the student comes from.
SPANISH SUFFICIENCY TEST
The Spanish Sufficiency Test assesses the linguistic and communicative skills of a nonnative Spanish speaker.
The test is open to international students who have followed formal studies on Spanish or have independently developed linguistic skills.
The test results have international validity and are required in different institutions for the appointment for grants, the inscription in academic or labor programs, etc.
